Biography
Shimon Okshteyn (b. 1951) immigrated to the United States from the former Soviet Union in 1980. His work is in many notable private collections and in permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of Contemporary Art, NY, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, NY, and The State Russian Museum of Art, St. Petersburg, Russia, to name a few. Okshteyn’s recent retrospective exhibition “Shimon Okshteyn: Dialogue With Objects” at The State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia was accompanied by a fully illustrated, 350 pages catalogue raisonné, co-produced by The State Russian Museum and The Ludwig Museum and published by Palace Editions. Shimon Okshteyn lives and works in Southampton, NY.
