Delfina Blaquier 1980 —

Photographer and horse enthusiast Delfina Blaquier hails from a distinguished Argentine family with polo in its bloodline. She was raised around horses and has spent her life observing and admiring them. In 2003 Blaquier traveled the Polo circuit with her husband and son and using a Polaroid 210 camera, she documented the entire season. All material was then made into an as of yet unpublished book that Blaquier herself created.

In 2007 Blaquier started using her "fragmented" approach to her photography, offering a Zen-like approach to the viewer with an aim to "liberate the mind". Later that year Blaquier discovered digital photography and met Kelly Klein. That same year Klein published her oversized photography book Horse featuring Blaquier's image, Vasco Negro.

Her first solo exhibition came in 2008 at Aldo de Sousa Gallery (Buenos Aires). Her theme focuses on everyday events, highlighting the beauty in the mundane. A year later, the Centro Cultural Recoleta (Buenos Aires) invited Blaquier for a solo exhibition, which centers on the dialect of the female and male forms. A couple of months later, the same series is exhibited at the prestigious Latin art fair Buenos Aires Photo.

Coinciding with the close of the 2010 Polo season in the Hamptons and The Hampton Classic, Blaquier exhibited "Horses" at Vered Gallery. A statement of her love of horses and polo, capturing their strength, power and beauty.
